Had that feeling when you get up in the morning, knowing fully well you’re doing so just to go to a job you hate? El Empleo is for you; 2011’s intentionally drab animation builds its curious world rapidly and with wit, resulting in an ending that at once feels sorely unfair, yet wholly – tragically – inevitable. El Empleo switches the waking up, getting up, and getting to so many people experience every weekday morning into something profound.
