UNMISSABLE SHORT FILMS | Destino

Cinematic excellence doesn’t have to come in 90-minute slabs, so here I look at the very best short movies around. If you’ve got a little spare time, bang one of these beauties on – satisfaction guaranteed.

#11: Destino [2003]

Revisiting this visually stunning work from 2003, Walt Disney and Salvador Dali’s unrealised storyboards were taken by director Dominique Monfery and turned into an amalgam of hand-drawn and CG animation. The result was a mixture of Disney’s princess-overcomes ethic and Dali’s surreal design; a technically significant piece of abstract storytelling that is as whimsically befuddling in its semantics as it is beautiful.
